Caaaaaaaats!!!

Today is our last day in Budapest! We spent it largely in going to the Citadel, which is the home of what our tour guide the first day called "Budapest's statue of liberty." The place is just bursting with 19th-20th century history, and is a beautiful and fascinating place.

But first, breakfast, which was a feast at the Kino Cafe near our hostel. They had half a page of loose leaf tea options!!

We took a bus to the train station to be ready for tomorrow, then took a metro to the bottom of the citadel hill. It was quite a hike to the top, but through a gorgeous neighborhood and park.

In the distance you can see the "statue of liberty." I dont have another picture of it to post because the angle from the top is ridiculous, but its basically a lady holding a giant feather in the air.

The view from the top is phenominal; you can see most of the city. The citadel itself is fascinating, and the hike down was gorgeous. It helped that the weather was crisp and clear.

We stopped to take a quick tour of a church built into a cave at the bottom if the hill before moving on. I dont have pictures, but I'll be getting some from Gerd later. I do have a picture of the beautiful Green Bridge from across the street though.

After crossing the bridge we wandered through a touristy shopping district for awhile, then stopped to get these fantastic pastry things - I already forgot what they're called, but they were delicious.

Then finally, Budapest Cat Cafe! Yes, thats right, we went to a cat cafe. It was fantastic.

I met this cutie there

As well as this grumpy pants

And this guy who Im pretty sure played a cowardly lion in a certain movie we all know.

They had tea, paninis, coffee, cakes, and cat treats you could give out. Also the waiter was able to remember out entire order in his head. I was quite impressed.

Tomorrow we leave *very* early in the morning for Vienna, where we will only spend a few days including a day trip to Salsburg, so we're going to have to cram a lot into a short period of time. Im looking forward to seeing the city! Until then!
